This human right aligns seamlessly with the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Total Worker Health® (TWH) initiative, which integrates the protection from work-related safety and health hazards with the promotion of injury and illness-prevention efforts to advance worker well-being.
It also supports the new ISO 45003 standard, which recognizes that employers are responsible for protecting both the physical and psychosocial health of their employees. This puts mental health within the scope of environment, health, and safety (EHS) management. Thus, the connection between Total Worker Health and corporate sustainability is the intersection of human capital management and human rights.
