LIVE WEBINAR
Are You Prepared for USP 800?

FEBRUARY
27th
11:00am ET

The United States Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) estimates that more than 8 million US healthcare workers are exposed to hazardous drugs (HDs) in the workplace each year. They developed their latest standard, USP 800, to reduce the risks of handling HDs in healthcare settings, and help promote greater patient safety, worker safety, and environmental protection.

USP 800 sets out to accomplish this through a broad set of requirements encompassing inventories of HDs, engineering controls, personal protective equipment (PPE), personnel training, spill control measures, documentation, and other protective measures. While USP is not itself a regulatory agency, some state boards of pharmacy have already adopted 800 and are using it to evaluate facilities during inspections. Additionally, agencies such as the Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) will be evaluating the practices of establishments against USP 800, so it's important to make sure your practices are aligned. Are you ready?

Join us for this webinar where we'll be covering:

  • The purpose, content, and applicability of USP 800
  • The definition of a "hazardous drug"
  • OSHA/HazCom requirements for hazardous drugs
  • Specific requirements of the standard
  • Best practices to align with USP 800
